Jagga Jasoos – Something You Have Never Seen Before!
Rating: 4/5
Jagga Jasoos is a crazy, misfit adventure. This is one movie that leaves you feeling refreshed. In fact, it is as lovable as it is absurd. Every character’s sketch has been drawn beautifully.
It is the story of a young lad, Jagga (played by Ranbir Kapoor), in search of his lost guardian (Saswata Chatterjee). He is accompanied by Shruti Sengupta (Katrina Kaif), his sidekick, on this wonderful journey.
The first thing worth appreciating in this movie is that they do not portray stuttering as a deformity that should be looked down upon. Just like Taare Zameen Par, it eases into the topic and shows the audience how speech disorders aren’t something to be ashamed of. ‘Sharmata hai kyuki haklaata hai’ – The film is filled with such witty one liners.
Pertaining to an industry where every new song resembles the old one in some form or the other, Jagga Jasoos’ music is a breath of fresh air. Unlike the newest upbeat song that you have listened to, its music acts like a cool breeze near the sea-shore transporting you into a different la la land altogether.
There is one question that you’re sure to ask yourself during the course of the movie, “What am I watching!?” But, fret not, dear readers, because no matter how weird, crazy and irrational the movie is, you are not going to regret spending your money on this.
Anurag Basu is at his best with this movie but when is he not? His direction makes this movie worth a watch.
Ranbir Kapoor is excellent and manages to enthral and captivate the audience. His goofiness and quirkiness throughout the movie make up for Katrina’s acting though their chemistry is worth a mention. We have seen the pair before in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and I am pretty sure you have seen their ‘couple pics’ as well but you can never get enough of their chemistry. It surely is a delight to watch.
To sum it all up, go to the nearest theatre and be a part of this adventure yourself.
