Woman Kisses Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Said She Was ‘Overjoyed’

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was attending a public meeting in Bengaluru when a woman kissed him on the cheek leaving him in disbelief and embarrassment.

During the group photo shoot, Girija Srinivas, who is the Tarikere Taluk Panchayat member from Amruthapura in Chikmagalur district, gave a peck on the CM’s cheek  and walked away.

The programme had been organised by the Karnataka Pradesha Kuruba Sangha. It was to felicitate the newly elected members of zilla panchayats and taluk panchayats, at the palace grounds in Bengaluru.

Speaking to a TV channel, the woman said she was happy that the CM was also a Kuruba and was overjoyed that she got to stand next to him. She said her family had always called him “Appaji”(father).

Clarifying the peck, she said it was not pre-planned. Srinivas hails from Varuna in Mysuru district which is Siddaramaiah’s assembly constituency. She is married to a man from Chikmagalur.
After the meeting, Siddaramaiah in conversation with the reporters said, “that girl is like my daughter.”
